Senior accountant FMCG

A Senior Accountant in the FMCG sector is responsible for managing financial records, ensuring tax and regulatory compliance (including GST and inventory), preparing financial statements, and performing reconciliations. The role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency with accounting software, and may involve mentoring junior staff and collaborating with other departments to improve processes and support strategic financial planning. Key responsibilities

• Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements and balance sheets.
• Tax and Compliance: Ensure timely filing of tax returns (like GST and TDS) and compliance with all relevant regulations.
• Reconciliation: Conduct and oversee bank, vendor, and accounts payable/receivable reconciliations.
• Auditing: Assist with both internal and external audits, including preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Inventory Control: Manage inventory-related financial controls, including reconciling stock records, and help develop and implement inventory management policies.
• Process Improvement: Develop and implement new accounting policies and internal controls to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Analysis and Budgeting: Analyze financial data, assist with budgeting and forecasting, and provide insights to management.
• Mentorship: Provide guidance and training to junior accounting staff and manage their duties.

Qualifications and skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally ERP, QuickBooks) and advanced MS Excel skills.
• Strong knowledge of tax laws (GST, TDS) and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience in the FMCG sector is often a plus, especially regarding inventory management.
