Job Description

Role & responsibilities Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Ensure financial reports comply with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) or IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards). Review financial statements for discrepancies, errors, or inconsistencies. General Ledger Management: Oversee and manage the general ledger to ensure accuracy and completeness. Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures. Ensure timely reconciliation of accounts. Accounting Operations: Manage and supervise day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable. Review, process, and approve invoices, payments, and receipts. Perform bank and credit card reconciliations. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts. Track and analyze budget variances to ensure alignment with financial goals. Support senior management in financial planning and decision-making. Tax Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations. Prepare and file tax returns, including sales tax, payroll tax, and corporate tax filings. Collaborate with external auditors and tax professionals to resolve any tax-related matters. Internal Controls and Compliance: Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity. Ensure compliance with company policies, legal regulations, and accounting standards. Conduct periodic audits of financial processes and systems. Supervision and Training: Lead and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations. Assign tasks and ensure timely and accurate completion of accounting duties. Review work done by junior staff and offer constructive feedback. Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement. Provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior management based on financial performance. Assist with cost control measures and efficiency improvements. Audit Support: Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits. Ensure timely and accurate preparation of audit schedules and documentation. Address any audit queries and implement corrective actions if necessary. System and Process Improvements: Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and systems. Recommend and implement process enhancements for greater efficiency and accuracy. Assist with the integration of new software or accounting systems. Ad Hoc Financial Projects: Assist with special projects as assigned by management. Conduct financial research and analysis to support business decisions. Prepare ad hoc reports as needed.
