Summary

The Security Engineer is responsible for the configuration, operation, and maintenance of security related infrastructure hardware and software. This individual will develop, execute, and track the performance of implemented security solutions designed to protect the Timex Group enterprise. In addition, the Security Engineer will identify security weaknesses, make recommendations for solutions to management, and to lead efforts to implement new security infrastructure solutions. The Security Engineer will work with contracted managed security service provider (MSSP) to ensure that security systems are effectively monitored and that any breaches and/or intrusions are reported in a timely manner. This individual will participate in monthly security reviews with the MSSP and turn regular vulnerability scanning reports into action plans for remediation and mitigation.


Responsibilities

  • Installation and deployment of security related infrastructure hardware and software 
  • Monitor networks, servers, and endpoints using SIEM tools to detect and respond to security incidents.
  • Operate and maintain networking security devices and software 
  • Documentation of system configurations
  • Work with 3rd party MSSP to maintain visibility into network and infrastructure systems in order to thwart threats
  • Manage and optimize security tools (firewalls, SIEM, endpoint protection, etc.).
  • Securing servers and networking systems
  • Responding to security related incidents
  • Analyzing logs and reports 
  • Developing and implementing action plans for vulnerability remediation and mitigation 
  • Interpreting security review reports 
  • Training and support of operations staff 
  • Security systems performance tuning 
  • Project Management – Security implementation projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years’ experience as a security engineer or related field
  • Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux) and network security 
  • Strong understanding of network and system security principles.
  • Knowledge of network firewalls, network access control solutions, network segmentation solutions 
  • Knowledge of endpoint security products 
  • Knowledge of logging and event management tools 
  • Proficient in networking services and protocols as well as network monitoring 
  • Excellent communication skills, written, and oral 
  • Skilled problem solver 
  • Must possess good organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of Project management and Service Management tools
  • Knowledge of Identity and Access Management solutions 
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere 
  • Scripting Knowledge - PowerShell, Shell, Batch, Python, Perl
