SDE 3 / 4 - Backend

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend systems and services powering Aspora's fintech offerings.
• Ship clean, efficient, production-grade code with strong attention to reliability and performance.
• Architect for scale, build resilient, fault-tolerant, and high-throughput systems.
• Partner cross-functionally with product, frontend, and infra teams to deliver seamless user experiences.
• Improve system health monitor performance, debug bottlenecks, and optimize backend components.
• Influence engineering direction contributes to architectural decisions, framework choices, and best practices.
• Drive long-term architectural vision, mentor engineers, and elevate technical standards across the team.
• Lead critical system design efforts and shape platform evolution.
  

Requirements

• 6-12+ years of backend engineering experience (fit assessed for SDE III or SDE IV based on depth, ownership, and architectural strength).
• Strong ability to design modular, scalable, and high-performance systems.
• Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Go, Python, or similar backend languages.
• Hands-on experience with REST APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures.
• Demonstrated ability to balance speed with engineering rigor, especially in an early-stage environment.
• High ownership, comfort with ambiguity, and eagerness to build from scratch.
• (Staff level) Deep expertise in system design, architectural patterns, and scaling strategies.
• (Staff level) Experience guiding engineers, reviewing designs, and influencing org-wide technical decisions.
