Job Description

The Scrum Master is responsible for guiding one or more Agile teams through the Scrum framework, ensuring that the team adheres to Agile values, principles, and practices. This role focuses on removing impediments, fostering continuous improvement, and enabling the team to deliver high-quality products efficiently.

Key ResponsibilitiesScrum Facilitation

  • Plan and facilitate Scrum ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
  • Ensure Scrum artefacts (Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog, Increment) are maintained and transparent.

Team Support & Coaching

  • Coach the development team in self-organisation, cross-functional collaboration, and effective Agile practices.
  • Help the Product Owner with backlog refinement, prioritisation, and writing clear user stories.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.

Impediment Removal

  • Identify, track, and remove impediments that block team progress.
  • Escalate issues when necessary while protecting the team from distractions.

Agile Process Improvement

  • Use data and metrics (velocity, burndown, cycle time) to help the team improve performance.
  • Promote Agile best practices and contribute to organizational Agile maturity.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Facilitate communication between the team and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure transparency by communicating progress, risks, and dependencies.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., IT, Business, Engineering) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working as a Scrum Master or in an Agile development environment.
  • Strong understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and Lean principles.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to work with distributed or cross-functional teams.
