Job Description : The CAT Modeling Analyst is responsible for analyzing and assessing the potential impact of natural and man-made catastrophes on an organizations portfolio. This role involves using sophisticated modeling software to predict the financial impact of events such as hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, and terrorism. The analyst will work closely with underwriters, actuaries, and risk managers to provide insights that inform decision-making and risk management strategies. Key Responsibilities: Modeling and Analysis: Utilize catastrophe modeling software (e.g., RMS, AIR) to assess the potential impact of various catastrophic events. Run and interpret model results to estimate potential losses and financial impacts. Perform sensitivity analyses to understand the impact of different variables on model outcomes. Data Management: Collect, clean, and manage large datasets related to exposure, claims, and other relevant information. Ensure data accuracy and integrity for use in modeling and analysis. Develop and maintain databases and tools to support catastrophe modeling activities. Reporting and Communication: Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing model results and their implications. Communicate complex modeling concepts and results to non-technical stakeholders, including senior management. Provide insights and recommendations based on model outputs to support risk management and underwriting decisions. Collaboration: Work closely with underwriters, actuaries, and risk managers to integrate catastrophe modeling into broader risk assessment and management processes. Collaborate with IT and data teams to enhance modeling capabilities and data infrastructure. Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives related to risk management and business strategy. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest developments in catastrophe modeling techniques, software, and industry trends. Identify opportunities to improve modeling processes, accuracy, and efficiency. Contribute to the development and refinement of internal modeling tools and methodologies. Experience: 5+ years of experience in catastrophe modeling, risk analysis, or a related field. Proficiency in using catastrophe modeling software (e.g., RMS, AIR). Strong analytical and quantitative skills with experience in data analysis and statistical modeling.
