Job Description

As a School Counselor at the School District of La Crosse, your role will involve: **Role Overview:** You will be responsible for providing leadership, advocacy, and collaboration to promote student success by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program. Your duties will include addressing academic, career, and personal/social development needs for all students at Polytechnic, CRVA, and JDC. **Key Responsibilities:** - Develop and manage a Comprehensive School Counseling Program. - Collaborate with building staff to establish a positive mental health and behavioral culture in the school. - Facilitate problem-solving team meetings and support teachers in Co-Planning to Co-Serve Students. - Communicate effectively with families, especially regarding challenging student circumstances. - Participate in professional learning communities and provide in-service training for staff. - Use data to plan interventions, programming, and advance district priorities aligned with the Strategic Plan for Equity. - Collaborate with school improvement teams and participate in structured problem-solving processes. - Design and implement effective interventions for students, including consulting and training staff on implementation. - Serve on the crisis response team and conduct small group and individual counseling. - Connect students/families with outside resources as needed. **Qualifications Required:** - Wisconsin Certification 7054 School Counselor. - Ability to collaborate with building staff on at-risk behaviors and issues affecting student success. - Experience working with diverse student populations in a high school setting. - Expertise in trauma-informed practices, mental health awareness, suicide prevention, and threat assessment procedures. - Knowledge of data analysis at district, building, and student levels. - Understanding of equity in public education and creating equitable systems. - Familiarity with Student Information Systems. - Ability to work positively as part of a student services team.
