SAP ABAP HANA Consultant

The Application Developer - SAP ABAP HANA designs, builds, and supports SAP solutions optimized for SAP HANA. The role focuses on ABAP on HANA development using ADT in Eclipse, leveraging code pushdown with CDS views, AMDP, and optimized SQL. The developer re-engineers complex components, integrates reusable software objects across platforms, and ensures performance per SAP HANA guidelines. Responsibilities include data modeling in HANA, consuming HANA Live models, implementing HANA Text Search, and delivering high-performance ALV on HANA.

Required Qualifications

• Strong SAP ABAP development experience with SAP HANA (ABAP on HANA)
• Hands-on with ABAP Development Tools (ADT) in Eclipse
• Working knowledge of SAP HANA technical concepts and architecture
• Data modeling using SAP HANA Studio/HANA modeling tools
• ABAP Core Data Services (CDS) design, annotations, and consumption
• Database Procedures/AMDP (SQLScript) and table functions
• ADBC (ABAP Database Connectivity) and Native SQL usage
• Performance optimization and code pushdown per SAP HANA rules and guidelines
• Experience with performance tools (e.g., ST05, SQL Monitor, SAT)
• Implementing Text Search on HANA
• Building ALV optimized for HANA
• Consuming HANA Live models
• Experience integrating software packages and reusable objects across platforms

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support ABAP on HANA applications with a focus on performance and scalability.
• Create and optimize CDS views, AMDP/database procedures, and leverage SQLScript for code pushdown.
• Build ALV on HANA reports and implement HANA Text Search features where applicable.
• Consume HANA Live models and integrate them into ABAP applications and services.
• Refactor and re-engineer complex application components; build reusable objects and integrate thirdparty/software packages across platforms.
• Follow SAP HANA performance rules and best practices; profile and tune SQL/ABAP using ST05, SQL Monitor, and SAT.
• Develop data models using HANA Studio/modeling tools and ensure correct architecture alignment.
• Conduct unit testing, troubleshoot issues, document solutions, and support transports and deployments.
