Job Summary

The Restaurant Captain is responsible for supervising the restaurant floor, ensuring smooth service, and providing guests with an exceptional dining experience. This role bridges communication between guests, service staff, and the kitchen, ensuring efficient operations and high-quality customer service in line with restaurant standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of restaurant service staff during shifts.
  • Greet and seat guests, ensuring a warm and professional welcome.
  • Take food and beverage orders accurately and ensure timely service delivery.
  • Communicate guest orders clearly to the kitchen and bar teams.
  • Check tables before service to ensure proper setup, cleanliness, and readiness.
  • Ensure high standards of food presentation, table service, and guest satisfaction.
  • Handle guest complaints or special requests efficiently and courteously.
  • Assist in training and guiding new service staff on restaurant standards and SOPs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the menu, ingredients, preparation methods, and promotions.
  • Monitor table turnover and assist in managing reservations and seating arrangements.
  • Coordinate with the kitchen and bar to ensure smooth communication and timely service.
  • Ensure compliance with hygiene, safety, and grooming standards.
  • Assist in daily cash handling, billing, and end-of-shift reporting when required.
  • Support the Restaurant Manager in daily operations, inventory control, and team briefings.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Diploma or degree in Hotel Management, Hospitality, or related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in restaurant or hotel service, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or captain role.
  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage service standards and restaurant operations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency in POS systems and basic computer applications.
  • Flexible to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Work Environment

  • Front-of-house restaurant setting within a hotel, fine dining, or casual dining establishment.
  • Requires standing for long periods and maintaining a professional appearance.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹19,000.00 - ₹24,000.00 per month
