Research Engineer 3/ Senior Research Engineer 1

As a Research Engineer 3 specializing in Magnetron coating at Saint Gobain, a global leader in the construction material business, you will be responsible for designing new products and developing competencies to ensure the robustness of the products. Your role will involve optical thin film characterization and modeling, conducting projects independently or in collaboration with various teams or organizations to understand the correlation between deposition conditions and material properties, and develop techniques to evaluate the performance and durability of thin films. Your key responsibilities will include: - Leading magnetron product development activities at Saint-Gobain Research India - Conducting optical thin film characterization and modeling - Collaborating with competency teams, universities, or research organizations to study deposition conditions and material-property correlation - Developing evaluation techniques for thin film performance such as chemical and mechanical durability - Supporting competency teams and Product Lines in various projects and studies - Participating in lab activities and ensuring implementation of 5S practices To excel in this role, you should possess: - A PhD in Material Science Engineering, Physics, or Solid-State Chemistry with 3-5 years of experience - Understanding of vacuum plasma deposition processes, optical materials, and multilayer material characterization - Experience in solid-state chemistry of thin films would be advantageous - Global mindset and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and competency teams - Willingness to travel to manufacturing plants and R&D centers worldwide on an as-needed basis (up to 30% travel) This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with a background in material science engineering or related fields to contribute to innovative product development and research activities at Saint Gobain.,
