Job Description

As a Research Associate at UNSW in Sydney, Australia, you will be part of a collaborative team working on an ARC-funded Discovery Project focusing on High Dimensional Approximation, Learning, and Uncertainty. Your role will involve conducting independent research in areas such as High Dimensional Approximation, Uncertainty Quantification, Deep Learning, and Quasi-Monte Carlo Methods. You will have the opportunity to work with leading experts in the field and contribute to innovative schemes for high-dimensional approximation tailored to specific applications. Key Responsibilities: - Undertake collaborative and self-directed research on the ARC-funded Discovery Project - Contribute to scientific publications and engage with industry partners - Coordinate research activities and participate in relevant conferences and workshops - Work independently and as part of a team under the guidance of Professor Frances Kuo and Professor Ian Sloan - Develop and implement reliable, accurate, and efficient schemes for high-dimensional approximation Qualifications Required: - Hold a PhD in Mathematics, preferably in computational mathematics or a related area - Demonstrate the ability to conduct independent research - Possess knowledge in Quasi-Monte Carlo methods, finite element analysis, and/or machine learning - Proficiency in computer programming languages such as Matlab, C++, or Python - Strong interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and a collaborative mindset - Commitment to UNSW's values and objectives Additional Details: UNS is known for its vibrant campus life and strong sense of community and inclusion.
