Radiation Safety Officer

We are seeking an experienced Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) for our Oncology Hospital to oversee all safety procedures in Radiotherapy, Linear Accelerator (LINAC) operations, Brachytherapy, CT Simulator, and associated radiation facilities. The RSO will ensure strict compliance with AERB regulations and provide a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage and enforce the Radiation Safety Program for radiotherapy departments.
• Daily and weekly safety checks for LINAC, HDR Brachytherapy, CT Simulator, and treatment planning systems.
• Ensure compliance with AERB guidelines for oncology equipment (including source loading, unloading & QA).
• Conduct routine radiation surveys of treatment rooms, bunkers, and controlled areas.
• Monitor staff radiation exposure through TLD badges and maintain records.
• Oversee safe handling, storage, and disposal of radioactive sources.
• Prepare and submit mandatory compliance reports to AERB/DAE.
• Train radiotherapy staff (RTTs, physicists, oncologists, nurses) on radiation protection practices.
• Investigate any radiation incident and take corrective actions.
• Assist in equipment commissioning, acceptance testing, and periodic quality assurance.
• Ensure emergency preparedness for radiation-related events.
