A Quantity Surveyor (QS) is responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. They ensure that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The QS will work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to oversee and control costs throughout the project lifecycle. Role & responsibilities Cost Estimation & Budgeting: Prepare accurate cost estimates for projects, based on detailed analyses of design, materials, labor, and other project requirements. Develop and manage the project budget, ensuring all costs are monitored and controlled. Advise clients on cost-effective options and ensure project feasibility. Tendering & Procurement: Prepare tender documents, including contracts, specifications, and schedules. Analyze and assess tenders, selecting contractors and suppliers that meet the project needs. Negotiate prices and contracts to achieve the best value for the client. Contract Management: Oversee the administration of contracts, ensuring that all contractual obligations are met. Manage variations to the contract and ensure all changes are documented and agreed upon. Monitor and track contract performance, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Cost Control: Track project expenditures, ensuring that all costs are controlled and documented. Provide regular cost reports to clients and project teams, highlighting potential issues or risks. Conduct cost-to-complete evaluations and recommend corrective actions if needed. Risk Management: Identify potential risks to the projects budget, schedule, and quality. Develop strategies to mitigate risks and manage unforeseen issues or challenges. Site Visits & Monitoring: Regularly visit construction sites to monitor progress and ensure that work is being carried out in accordance with plans, specifications, and budgets. Review and approve invoices, claims, and payment applications from contractors and suppliers. Final Accounts: Prepare final account statements upon project completion, ensuring all costs are documented and verified. Resolve any disputes over costs or variations and prepare reports for final settlement. Collaboration & Reporting: Liaise with project managers, engineers, and architects to ensure seamless project execution. Prepare reports and documentation for clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies. Sustainability & Efficiency: Advise on sustainable construction practices and cost-efficient methods for delivering projects. Preferred candidate profile Qualifications & Skills: Education: B.Tech/ Diploma Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor Excellent negotiation and communication skills Attention to detail and strong analytical abilities Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills
