Role Position Overview

The Quality Manager will be responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining robust Quality Management Systems (QMS) across PET and Can filling operations. The role ensures that all products meet stringent quality, safety, and regulatory standards, in line with both domestic and international beverage industry requirements. The position requires a strong technical background, leadership skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Quality Management Systems (QMS)

  • Develop, implement, and maintain QMS aligned with ISO, HACCP, FSSC 22000, and GMP standards.
  • Lead internal and external audits (regulatory, client, and certification) to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Manage documentation control, traceability, and versioning as per global standards.
  • Ensure calibration and validation of all laboratories and process equipment.
  1. Product Quality & Compliance

  • Monitor raw materials, in-process, and finished product quality through analytical, physical, and microbiological testing.
  • Define and maintain product specifications in collaboration with R&D and Production.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for deviations, non-conformances, and customer complaints; implement CAPA.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety regulations and client-specific quality standards.
  1. Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and waste reduction through Lean, Six Sigma, and TPM methodologies.
  • Implement advanced quality tools (SPC, FMEA, Pareto analysis) to improve process reliability and reduce variation.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance line efficiency and reduce rejections through cross-functional collaboration.
  1. People Leadership & Development

  • Lead, train, and mentor QA/QC teams to build technical and behavioral competencies.
  • Establish performance KPIs and conduct regular capability assessments for quality personnel.
  • Foster a culture of quality ownership, accountability, and continuous learning across departments.
  1. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to ensure seamless product quality from raw material to dispatch.
  • Support NPD (New Product Development) trials, validation, and first-time-right production.
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers for audits, technical evaluations, and complaint resolution.

Candidate Profile

  • Education: B. Tech B.E. in Food Technology, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum 12 - 15 years in beverage, food, or FMCG manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, leadership presence, and effective communication.
  • Preferred: Experience in PET bottling or aluminium can filling operations in a high-speed automated plant.

Technical Competencies

  • In-depth knowledge of FSSC 22000, ISO 9001, HACCP, GMP, and food safety regulations.
  • Hands-on experience with SPC, FMEA, CAPA, quality tools (Root Cause Analysis, 8D, DMAIC), and statistical tools.
  • Expertise in in-line inspection, laboratory testing, and quality validation techniques.
  • Familiarity with packaging quality parameters (PET preforms, cans, closures, labelling).
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance (FSSAI, BIS, client standards).
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (Minitab, SAP-QM, MS Excel dashboards).
