Quality Manager - Oil & Gas Fabrication / Pressure Vessel

Job Purpose:

To lead and manage the Quality Management System (QMS) across all fabrication activities—including pressure vessels, piping, and structural fabrication—ensuring full compliance with ISO, ASME, API, and client-specific standards. The Quality Manager will oversee welding quality, NDT operations, inspection processes, and continuous improvement initiatives to achieve zero defect delivery and client satisfaction.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Metallurgical / Production Engineering (or equivalent).
• Certifications
• CSWIP 3.1 / AWS-CWI (Certified Welding Inspector)
• ASNT Level II / ISO 9712 (RT, UT, MT, PT)
• Lead Auditor – ISO 9001:2015

Location

Key Responsibilities:

1. Quality Management System (QMS):

• Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s QMS in line with

  ISO 9001

  ,

  ASME

  ,

  API

  , and

  client specifications

  .
• Ensure all fabrication processes meet contractual, regulatory, and code requirements.
• Manage QMS documentation, internal audits, and certification renewals.

2. Welding & Fabrication Quality Control:

• Oversee all welding activities including

  WPS, PQR, and Welder Qualification

  as per

  ASME Section IX

  .
• Review and approve welding procedures, consumables, and repair methods.
• Monitor fabrication quality during fit-up, welding, and assembly stages of

  pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, and piping spools

  .
• Ensure compliance with

  ASME Section VIII, B31.3, API 650/1104

  , and other relevant standards.

3. Inspection & Testing:

• Supervise and coordinate

  material inspections, NDT (RT, UT, MT, PT, VT)

  , dimensional checks, hydrotesting, and final inspections.
• Approve and validate

  Inspection Test Plans (ITPs)

  , quality control procedures, and inspection reports.
• Coordinate with

  Third Party Inspection (TPI)

  and client representatives for witnessing and approvals.

4. Documentation & Records:

• Ensure traceability and control of materials, weld maps, calibration certificates, and inspection reports.
• Prepare and submit

  Manufacturer Data Records (MDRs)

  ,

  Quality Dossiers

  , and client handover packages.
• Manage

  Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)

  and implement corrective actions.

5. Team Leadership:

• Lead and mentor a team of

  QC inspectors, welding inspectors, and NDT technicians

  .
• Conduct performance appraisals, training sessions, and skill enhancement programs.
• Foster a culture of quality awareness and accountability across the team.

6. Client & Audit Coordination:

• Act as the primary quality representative for client and third-party audits.
• Address client queries, audit observations, and NCRs with timely and effective solutions.
• Conduct internal audits and ensure continual compliance with QMS and HSE requirements.

7. Continuous Improvement:

• Perform

  Root Cause Analysis (RCA)

  for quality issues and implement

  Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)

  .
• Lead initiatives to reduce weld repairs, rework, and material wastage.
• Drive process improvements to enhance productivity and product quality.

Key Skills & Competencies:

• In-depth knowledge of

  welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, SAW, FCAW)

  and fabrication techniques.
• Strong understanding of

  ASME, API, AWS, ISO, and client specifications

• Expertise in

  WPS/PQR/Welder Qualification

  and NDT coordination.
• Proficiency in

  root cause analysis, QMS auditing, and documentation control

• Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to liaise effectively with clients, consultants, and third-party inspectors.
