Role & responsibilities

• Quality assurance:

  Develop and implement quality control policies, strategies, and procedures for the TMT rolling mill.

• Inspection and testing:

  Conduct or oversee inspections and tests on raw materials (billets) and final TMT bars using equipment like spectrometers, Universal Tensile Machines (UTM), and bend/rebend tests.

• Compliance:

  Ensure compliance with national and international quality standards, such as Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), and maintain necessary records.

• Process monitoring:

  Monitor the production process to ensure mill settings and quality parameters are consistently maintained.

• Problem-solving:

  Work with the production team to identify and address quality issues, and handle customer complaints, including preparing and implementing Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).

• Documentation:

  Prepare and maintain accurate quality records, quality test certificates, and other required documentation.

• Team leadership:

  Lead, train, and develop the quality control team to ensure effective communication and performance.

• Audits:

  Conduct and support internal and external quality audits.

Preferred candidate profile

Educational Background:

• Experience:

• Minimum of 8-12 years of work experience specifically within a rolling mill environment, with a focus on TMT manufacturing.
• Proven experience in a supervisory or management capacity within quality control or production is often required.
• Experience in commissioning new mills or setting up quality control laboratories can be a significant advantage.

• Technical Knowledge:

• Thorough knowledge of TMT quality aspects, production processes, and optimization techniques to minimize wastage.
• Familiarity with international quality standards, specifications, and common procedures of rolling mills.
• Expertise in setting up and calibrating quality control laboratory equipment, such as Universal Testing Machines (UTM), bend/rebend testers, and hardness testers.
• Understanding of NDT (non-destructive testing) methods and surface defect identification and repair.
