Quality Engineer

Job Title: Foundry Quality Engineer

Department: Quality Assurance / Quality Control

Industry: Foundry / Metal Casting / Manufacturing

Location: Ahemadabad

Reports To: Quality Head / Plant Head / Production Manager

1. Incoming, In-Process & Final Inspection :

Conduct inspection of raw materials, cores, molds, and molten metal quality.

Perform in-process inspection during melting, pouring, fettling, and machining operations.

Carry out final inspection of castings as per drawings and customer specifications.

Use precision measuring instruments (Vernier, Micrometer, Height Gauge, CMM, etc.).

2. Quality Assurance & Documentation :

Prepare and maintain quality records — inspection reports, test certificates, rejection reports, etc.

Support PPAP, APQP, FMEA, and Control Plan documentation for new product development.

Maintain calibration records of gauges, instruments, and measuring devices.

Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 quality management systems.

3. Defect Analysis & Corrective Actions :

Identify casting defects (e.g., blow holes, shrinkage, sand inclusion, cracks, cold shuts).

Perform root cause analysis using 7 QC tools, 5 Why, and Ishikawa techniques.

Coordinate with production and process teams to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Monitor and reduce internal rejection and customer complaints.

4. Process & Product Quality Improvement :

Conduct process audits for melting, molding, core making, and fettling operations.

Support standardization of process parameters to maintain consistent product quality.

Assist in developing process control charts and quality checkpoints.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, 5S, Poka-Yoke).

5. Customer Quality Support :

Handle customer audits, part approvals, and technical documentation.

Analyze customer complaints and take immediate corrective actions.

6. Teamwork & Coordination :

Coordinate with production, maintenance, and lab departments for quality-related activities.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹10,315.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
