About The Role

The Quality Control Manager is responsible for ensuring consistent product quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of QC processes at Starizo's automated rice starch manufacturing facility. This role supports the Plant QC Head in implementing robust quality management systems, managing laboratory operations, and driving quality excellence across production.Key ResponsibilitiesAt-a-glance (quick scan)
  • Oversee day-to-day QC across raw material, in-process, and finished product testing.
  • Manage laboratory operations, equipment, and LIMS data integrity.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance (FSSAI, ISO, BRC) and maintain QC documentation.
  • Lead and develop the QC team; manage shift coverage for 24/7 operations.
  • Drive root-cause analysis and continuous improvement (Six Sigma/Lean).
Operational & Laboratory Management
  • Oversee sampling, testing, and release of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods to align with production schedules.
  • Manage laboratory resources: scheduling, calibration, maintenance, and LIMS records.
  • Ensure timely completion of Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and batch records.
  • Implement and monitor in-line inspection protocols for automated processes.
Compliance, Documentation & Audits
  • Ensure adherence to FSSAI, ISO 22000/9001, BRC and other applicable food safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate QC documentation, prepare audit packs, and support internal and external audits.
  • Implement and sustain GMP and HACCP controls across operations.
Leadership & People Development
  • Lead and coach a team of 8–12 QC executives and technicians; define clear KPIs and conduct regular reviews.
  • Deliver training on test methods, equipment use, safety, and quality culture.
  • Organize and manage shift rotations to ensure uninterrupted QC coverage.
Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
  • Investigate deviations and customer complaints; drive corrective actions and preventive measures.
  • Apply structured problem-solving tools (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) and lead RCA activities.
  • Champion CI projects using Lean and Six Sigma principles; collaborate with R&D on quality optimization.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Quick summary
  • Education: Bachelor's in Chemistry/Microbiology/Food Technology (required).
  • Experience: 5–7 years in food QC with 2–3 years in supervisory/managerial roles.
Must have
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline (Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Technology).
  • 5–7 years in quality control/assurance within food manufacturing; 2+ years supervising teams.
  • Practical experience in laboratory testing, COA generation, and audit support.
  • Strong familiarity with FSSAI requirements and GMP/HACCP implementation.
Nice to have
  • Diploma in Food Quality or Laboratory Management.
  • Certifications in ISO 22000/ISO 9001/BRC or FSSC 22000.
  • Experience with rice starch or cereal grain processing and export quality standards.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
Top technical skills (quick scan)
  • Starch chemistry and key quality parameters (viscosity, moisture, pH, ash, protein, whiteness).
  • Laboratory testing methods and equipment: HPLC, spectrophotometer, viscometer.
  • Statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis (Excel, Minitab).
  • LIMS and ERP (SAP QM) experience.
Additional knowledge
  • Familiarity with export quality requirements and food safety standards (ISO, BRC, FSSC).
  • Experience implementing and maintaining QA/QC systems in automated manufacturing.
