Job Description – QC Manager (Angle / Channel / Beam Structure Division)

Location: Gandhidham
Industry: Heavy Fabrication / Structural Steel / Bridge / EPC Projects
Salary (CTC): ₹18 Lakh per annum
Designation: Quality Control (QC) Manager
Qualification: B.E. / Diploma – Mechanical Engineering
Experience: 10–15 Years in Structural Fabrication / Heavy Steel Projects

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the Quality Control Department for fabrication of angles, channels, beams, trusses, and heavy steel structures.
• Implement and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) in line with ISO 9001, AWS, ASME, and IBR standards.
• Supervise and guide QC Engineers and Inspectors across all fabrication stages.
• Review and approve Inspection and Test Plans (ITP), WPS / PQR, and weld maps.
• Conduct fit-up, welding, dimensional, and visual inspections at shop and site level.
• Manage and coordinate with client and third-party inspection agencies (TPIA) for project approvals and audits.
• Ensure proper calibration and documentation of measuring and inspection instruments.
• Approve and maintain NDT reports (UT, RT, MT, PT) and coordinate with NDT agencies.
• Handle root cause analysis (RCA) for non-conformities and implement corrective actions.
• Verify material traceability, MTC review, and ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.
• Conduct internal quality audits, monitor NCRs, and lead improvement initiatives.
• Prepare and submit project QC dossiers and final quality documents to clients.
• Ensure full compliance of quality norms during fabrication, welding, blasting, and painting processes.
• Train and mentor QC staff to maintain high inspection standards and documentation discipline.

Skills and Competencies:

• In-depth knowledge of fabrication and welding inspection (Angle, Channel, Beam, Box Girder, Bridge Structure).
• Strong understanding of welding codes such as AWS D1.1, ASME Sec IX, IS 816, and IS 822.
• Ability to read drawings, perform dimensional inspections, and prepare reports.
• Experience with ISO, IBR, and client audits along with documentation control.
• Excellent leadership, coordination, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, SAP, or ERP system preferred.
