Python Developer

Position Summary:

The Python Developer plays a key role within the Information Technology team, leading engineering, architecture, support and maintenance of existing systems and websites. This role will help migrate legacy systems and integrate new platforms, with hands-on development of scripts and internal applications. Strong experience with Python, SQL, and solid OOP fundamentals are required.

Position Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with corporate and division leaders and representatives to develop solutions to achieve each units goals
• Participate in process improvement activities and initiatives
• Support and train key business unit employees on advanced functionality
• Accountable for enforcement of IT dept. standards, including but not limited to proper design, project documentation, coding standards
• Work to continuously enhance security/compliance/audit processes
• Assist with disaster recovery/continuity of operations planning and testing
• Design, develop, implement, and maintain solutions
• Troubleshoot technical and functional issues with the development and production environments
• Play a key role in maintaining, enhancing and upgrading the applications as well as implementing and supporting new technology
• Perform daily monitoring and troubleshooting of the platform components
• Resolve complex issues through hands-on technical solutions, self-research, peer group networks, or discussion forums
• Develop and maintain internal web applications
• Integrating with other data sources, applications, and API’s
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• 4+ years of development experience in Python
• 2+ years of experience with Git and modern development workflows
• 2+ years of experience with SQL and handling large datasets
• Core understanding of software development principles (DRY, KISS, single responsibility principle)
• Proven ability in utilizing object-oriented programming for scalable solutions
• Strong understanding of SQL and relational data modeling
• Proven experience integrating with 3rd party APIs and external services
• Ability to create scripts for automation and reporting requirements
• Familiarity of MVC software architectural pattern and web technologies
• Understanding of secure software design and secure coding practices
• Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Results oriented with attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement
• Foundational understanding of Internet and mainstream IT concepts
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
• Good business analysis skills and proactive problem solving attitude
