Job Description

Job Summary The Purchase Manager will be responsible for sourcing, vendor development, price negotiation, and ensuring timely procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, and other operational supplies required for FMCG production. The role demands strong negotiation skills, market knowledge, and the ability to maintain cost efficiency without compromising quality. Key Responsibilities 1. Procurement & Purchasing Manage end-to-end procurement of raw materials, packaging items, consumables, machinery parts, and services. Ensure materials are procured as per production schedules and specifications. Maintain optimal stock levels to avoid shortages or excess inventory. Compare quotations and finalize vendors based on quality, price, and delivery timelines. 2. Vendor Management Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers. Develop long-term supplier relationships to ensure consistent quality and reliability. Conduct regular vendor performance reviews (delivery, pricing, quality). Resolve supplier issues regarding delays, quality deviations, or billing disputes. 3. Negotiations & Cost Control Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts to achieve cost savings. Analyze market trends (raw material prices, packaging trends, logistics costs). Drive cost reduction initiatives without affecting product quality. 4. Inventory & Documentation Coordinate with stores and production teams for stock monitoring. Maintain accurate purchase documentation — PO’s, GRN’s, contracts, vendor database. Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and statutory requirements. 5. Coordination & Reporting Work closely with Production, Quality, Stores, Finance, and Logistics departments. Prepare weekly/monthly procurement reports, price comparisons, budget tracking. Provide insights on procurement risks and propose mitigation plans. Key Skills Required Strong negotiation & communication skills Knowledge of FMCG raw materials & packaging Vendor relationship management Inventory planning & supply chain knowledge Market research & price trend analysis ERP / SAP / Tally knowledge preferred Analytical and decision-making skills Qualification Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Commerce, Business Management, or related field MBA in Supply Chain / Operations preferred 5–10 years’ experience in FMCG procurement
