Designation: Patient counsellor/Psychologist Department: Operations Grade: E3 Employment Type: Permanent Job Description: Psychological Assessment & Screening Conduct initial psychological assessments to evaluate stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. Identify risk factors like health-related anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after cardiac events, or lifestyle challenges. Emotional Support & Counseling Provide individual and group therapy to help patients cope with fear, anxiety, depression, and lifestyle changes. Offer grief counseling for those struggling with the psychological impact of their diagnosis or lifestyle modifications. Help patients build emotional resilience and stress management strategies. Stress Management & Behavior Modification Teach stress reduction techniques, such as mindfulness, deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, and guided imagery. Work with patients to develop healthy coping mechanisms instead of relying on smoking, alcohol, or eating emotionally. Encourage adherence to medication, diet, and exercise plans by addressing motivational barriers. Lifestyle & Behavioral Coaching Guide patients in setting realistic, achievable goals for behavior change. Address psychosocial factors like work-related stress, family issues, or financial concerns that may impact recovery. Collaborate with dietitians, physiotherapists, and cardiac nurses to reinforce lifestyle changes. Collaboration with Multidisciplinary Team Work closely with cardiologists, physiotherapists, nurses, dietitians, and exercise specialists to ensure holistic care. Contribute to team meetings by sharing psychological insights that may impact a patients rehabilitation progress.
