Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical)(ICMR-UNNATI) Division Non Division User Contact Person HR Job Details Brief Description about the Project The study entitled India Child Growth Standards Research Initiative: A Prospective Cohort Study to Develop Growth and Development Standards in 0 to 24 months Indian Children - UNNATI , is a prospective cohort study planned to be conducted across 6 regions (North, South, East, West, Central and Nort-East) of India to develop updated growth and neurodevelopmental standards for children from 0-24 months under optimal biological, socioeconomic, and behavioral conditions. This study will measure childhood growth and development, develop normative growth curves, neurodevelopmental charts in children born in an environment without major biological, socio-behavioral, and economic constraints to growth among Indian Children 0-24 months of age. Project Research Scientist-I (Non-Medical) Position Starting: 1st March 2025 No. of Vacancy: Four Preferred Qualifications: MSc in Nutrition/life Science OR PhD in Public Health / Nutrition / Epidemiology Language : English, Kannada, Hindi Experience: 1-3 years of experience in maternal and child health research, growth monitoring, or epidemiological studies. Strong background in childhood growth standards, neurodevelopmental assessments, and early childhood interventions. Preferred Skills: Hands-on experience with anthropometric measurements, child development assessments, and community-based research. Familiarity with SPSS, STATA, or other data analysis software. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams. Last Day for Receiving Application: 20th February, 2025 Location: Bangalore Roles and Responsibilities : The candidate will be responsible for overall activities of the research project at SJRI as well as at the different field site. Key duties include: Assist in designing, planning, and executing the study across designated research sites. Ensure smooth recruitment and enrolment of study participants (pregnant women and newborns) while adhering to the inclusion/exclusion criteria. Conduct field visits and coordinate with local hospitals, community health centers, and research teams for data collection. Maintain adherence to ICMR research protocols, ethical guidelines, and regulatory requirements. Oversee growth monitoring by tracking anthropometric indices (weight, length, head circumference, MUAC). Ensure data accuracy and quality control in measurement techniques. Train and guide mothers/caregivers on the Nurturing Care Framework, focusing on good health, adequate nutrition, safety, responsive caregiving, and early learning. Facilitate awareness programs and capacity-building sessions for healthcare workers, field investigators, and research staff. Ensure accurate and systematic documentation of growth, developmental milestones, and health indicators. Support in data analysis, interpretation, and preparation of progress reports and scientific presentations. ICMR (UNNATI Study)
