Job Description: Job post demands a Naval Architect/Marine Engineer/Mechanical Engineer having experience in new build, conversions, retrofit, decarbonization, etc. for ocean going marine vessel and offshore structure. The job profile requires a detailed understanding of ship related design processes, construction procedures and planning including scheduling, resource allocation and co-ordination with external parties including client, vendors and class. Main role would be to steer and drive the design works and ensure that project is completed within acceptable quality tolerance, schedule and budgeted manhours. His main role would be to act as a project manager for all conversion/retrofit related design works and ensure that project is completed within acceptable quality tolerance, schedule and budget. His responsibility will include: Understanding the design requirement of a newbuild, conversion/retrofit job scope from clients/tender Estimate Job scope for the design work Segregate the job scope into various departments such as Concept Design, Stability Assessment, Structure Design, Machinery Design, Electrical Design, Detailed Design (Structures, Piping, Outfitting) Allocate the job to each department Monitor the health of project in terms of quality, technical correctness, schedule, manhours etc. Lead Project engineers to execute projects 6. Interaction with Client, shipyard, vendor, class Above activities can also be carried out with the support of assigned Project Engineers. It is required that candidate should have sound knowledge of Naval Architectural principles and working knowledge of Ship s machinery and piping system. A good exposure and knowledge of marine equipment, class rules, IMO codes will be preferable. The work will involve regular interaction with internal design teams, client, class, regulatory bodies, shipyard, owners. A good communication skill and sound technical knowledge is desired. Qualification Naval Architect /Mechanical/Marine (B. Tech or M. Tech) with 7-10 years of design experience in a reputed design firm, classification society etc. Desired profile of the candidate Naval Architect/Mech Engg with well-rounded experience of new build, conversion and retrofit related design in all spheres including Ships concept design, stability, statutory, structures, Detailed engineering ( structure, piping, outfitting) and Machinery Good practical knowledge of actual construction and installation. Sound experience of working in a reputed Naval Architectural design firm or classification society plan approval office. Very strong interpersonal skills and communication skills.
