Job Summary:
SAFE HOUSE FIRE ENGINEERING SERVICES a specialist in firefighting system installations, is seeking an experienced and capable Project / Site Supervisor. The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee and manage all on-site installation activities for firefighting systems (including hydrant, sprinkler, and fire alarm systems). The Supervisor will ensure that work is executed safely, efficiently, adheres strictly to approved drawings, technical specifications, and quality standards, and progresses according to the project schedule. This role involves direct supervision of site teams, coordination of materials and resources on-site, enforcement of safety protocols, and acting as the key point of contact for site-level operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Execution & Supervision:
- Directly supervise and lead installation teams (fitters, welders, helpers, electricians etc.) on a day-to-day basis.
- Plan daily and weekly site activities based on project schedules and priorities.
- Ensure installation work (pipe laying, fitting, equipment mounting, cabling, etc.) is carried out precisely according to approved engineering drawings (layouts, schematics), specifications, and method statements.
- Interpret drawings and technical documents to guide the installation team effectively.
- Quality Assurance & Control:
- Monitor workmanship closely to ensure compliance with company quality standards, relevant IS codes, NBC guidelines, and local Fire Brigade requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections of ongoing and completed work to identify and rectify any defects or deviations promptly.
- Ensure correct materials and components are used as per specifications.
- Safety Compliance:
- Implement and strictly enforce all site safety procedures and regulations.
- Ensure all personnel use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Conduct regular safety briefings (toolbox talks) for the site team.
- Identify potential hazards and take corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment.
- Report any accidents, incidents, or near misses immediately according to company procedures.
- Material & Resource Management (On-Site):
- Coordinate with the Stores/Procurement department for timely delivery of materials, tools, and equipment to the site.
- Receive, inspect, and verify materials delivered to the site against delivery challans.
- Ensure proper and secure storage of materials on-site.
- Track material consumption, minimize wastage, and report any shortages or damages.
- Coordination & Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for site-level communication.
- Coordinate with client representatives, consultants, and other contractors (Civil, Electrical, Plumbing) working on the same site to ensure smooth workflow.
- Communicate effectively with the site workforce, ensuring clear understanding of tasks and requirements.
- Progress Monitoring & Reporting:
- Track daily work progress against the project schedule.
- Prepare and submit accurate Daily Progress Reports (DPRs) detailing work done, labor deployed, materials consumed, and any site issues.
- Maintain site records, including attendance logs, material receipts, and potentially marked-up drawings (as-built information).
- Report any delays, deviations, or significant issues to the Project Manager/Engineer immediately.
- Problem Solving & Support:
- Identify and resolve routine site-level technical issues and challenges.
- Escalate complex technical or contractual issues to the Project Manager/Engineer for resolution.
- Assist engineers during system testing, flushing, pressure testing, and commissioning phases.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering OR ITI Certification (Fitter/Plumber/Welder/Electrician) combined with substantial relevant experience.
- Experience: Minimum 0-3 years (adjust based on desired seniority level) of direct, hands-on experience supervising the installation of firefighting systems, specifically including:
- Fire Hydrant Systems
- Sprinkler Systems (Wet, Dry)
- Fire Alarm and Detection Systems
- Technical Knowledge:
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and work from technical drawings (layout plans, schematic diagrams, P&IDs).
- In-depth knowledge of firefighting system components (pipes, fittings, valves, sprinklers, nozzles, pumps, panels, detectors, cables, etc.), materials (GI, MS, HDPE), and installation techniques.
- Familiarity with relevant Indian Standards (IS), National Building Code (NBC), and local fire safety regulations.
- Understanding of installation, testing, and commissioning procedures.
- Supervisory Skills: Proven ability to lead, manage, and motivate site labour effectively. Good planning and organizational skills.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills in Marathi and Hindi are essential for managing local labor and site coordination. Basic understanding/communication in English for reading drawings and potentially reporting.

- Willingness to work flexible/extended hours as per project demands.
- Valid two-wheeler driving license and willingness to travel extensively to project sites within the Mumbai region.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience supervising installations of specialized systems (e.g., Gas Suppression, Foam Systems, Water Mist).
- Formal certification in site safety (e.g., from a recognized institution).
- Experience coordinating with other MEP services on large projects.
- computer skills for report generation (MS Word/Excel).
