Finance Background

Position Overview:

The incumbent will lead the organization’s cost management and financial control functions across PAN India construction projects. The role is responsible for driving cost efficiency, project profitability, and financial accountability through robust project control systems. The incumbent will collaborate closely with Project Sites, QS, Billing and Finance teams to ensure disciplined cost monitoring, material reconciliation, subcontract billing, and accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cost Control & Analysis

• Control and Monitor project budgets and cost forecasts throughout the project lifecycle.
• Perform cost variance and profitability analysis (P&L) to ensure project alignment with approved budgets.
• Review committed and actual costs against forecasts to identify deviations and initiate corrective actions.
• Develop cost control procedures, formats, and produce to senior management.
• Liaise with site and HO teams for project audits, reviews, and MIS presentations.
• Implement robust project controls systems to ensure transparency and accountability.
• Participate in tender evaluations and pre-bid cost analysis for new projects.

2. Material Reconciliation, Billing & Claims Management

• Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of materials between engineering, procurement, and site teams.
• Validate consumption trends, wastage reports, and store reconciliations to optimize cost and inventory efficiency.
• Oversee end-to-end billing, certification, and approval processes.
• Review agreements, work orders, and variation claim to ensure commercial accuracy and compliance.
• Monitor billing cycles to ensure smooth financial closure.

3. Cost Management & Project Financial Control

• Drive cost efficiency initiatives across all project functions and monitor financial KPIs.
• Prepare and review monthly project cost reports, budget revisions, and cash flow projections.
• Support management in evaluating project profitability, cost-to-complete, and EAC (Estimate at Completion).
• Consolidate and analyze project financial statements to track profitability trends.
• Conduct variance analysis between budgeted vs. actual cost, and highlight deviations with justification.
• Provide strategic inputs to management for corrective actions on cost overruns.

Experience: 18 to 25 years

Qualification: CA / CWA / BE (Civil / Mechanical) with MBA in Finance

Industry: Construction / Real Estate (Mandatory)

Location: Chennai, TN

Preferred Background:

• Strong exposure to construction or infrastructure projects (preferably high-rise, industrial, or heavy engineering).
• Proven track record in cost management and project finance control.
• Hands-on experience in coordinating with project execution teams and managing commercial operations.
