Job Desc1. Position Summary

The Professor of Pharmacology is responsible for providing academic leadership in teaching, research, and service within the discipline of pharmacology. The role includes curriculum development, mentoring faculty and students, conducting high-impact research, and contributing to institutional growth in pharmaceutical sciences.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Teaching & Academic Duties

  • Deliver high-quality lectures, practical sessions, and tutorials in pharmacology at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Supervise Master’s and PhD research projects.
  • Develop, review, and update course curriculum in line with regulatory standards (PCI/AICTE/NAAC or relevant bodies).
  • Prepare teaching materials, evaluations, exams, and assessment tools.
  • Incorporate innovative teaching methodologies (e.g., case-based learning, simulation, blended learning).

B. Research Responsibilities

  • Conduct original, high-impact research in pharmacology or related fields (e.g., toxicology, clinical pharmacology, molecular pharmacology).
  • Publish regularly in peer-reviewed, high-quality journals.
  • Apply for internal and external research grants.
  • Establish and lead research groups or laboratories.
  • Collaborate with national and international researchers.

C. Administrative & Leadership Duties

  • Participate in departmental planning, program review, and accreditation processes.
  • Mentor junior faculty and assist in their professional development.
  • Serve on academic committees, boards of studies, and examination panels.
  • Contribute to institutional development initiatives.

D. Student Support & Mentorship

  • Guide students academically and professionally.
  • Provide counseling and support for career and research opportunities.
  • Promote student participation in conferences, workshops, and research activities.

3. Required QualificationsEssential

  • PhD in Pharmacology or related specialization.
  • M.Pharm in Pharmacology (as per regulatory norms, if applicable).
  • Strong record of scholarly publications.
  • Proven teaching experience at university/college level (typically 10+ years for Professor rank).
  • Evidence of leadership in research, funded projects, or academic administration.
