Job Description

Job Summary: The Production Specialist is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the manufacturing processes in a dairy production facility. This role focuses on ensuring efficient, high quality production while adhering to safety and regulatory standards. The Production Specialist will collaborate with cross functional teams to streamline operations, manage equipment, and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities: Production Management: Monitor and manage daily dairy production activities to meet quality and quantity targets. Coordinate with production teams to ensure timely and efficient processing of milk, cheese, yogurt, butter, and other dairy products. Supervise pasteurization, homogenization, and packaging processes, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs). Quality Assurance: Implement and monitor quality control systems to maintain product consistency. Conduct inspections and audits of production areas to ensure adherence to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points). Investigate and resolve quality issues promptly. Process Optimization: Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and recommend improvements. Develop and implement lean manufacturing practices to reduce waste and improve efficiency. Assist in process automation projects and evaluate new technologies. Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including FDA, FSMA, and other relevant standards. Conduct safety training for production staff and ensure adherence to safety protocols. Maintain accurate production and safety records. Inventory and Resource Management: Monitor raw material inventory levels and coordinate with the purchasing team for timely procurement. Optimize the use of resources to minimize downtime and reduce production costs. Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Logistics teams to achieve production goals. Provide training and support to production staff on equipment operation and safety procedures. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and submit production reports, including efficiency, waste, and downtime analyses. Maintain documentation for audits and regulatory inspections. Key Skills and Competencies: Strong knowledge of dairy production processes and equipment. Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, and other food safety standards. Analytical skills for data analysis and process optimization. Proficiency in using ERP and production management software. Effective communication and leadership skills. Problem solving abilities and attention to detail.
