Procurement Manager

Position Summary:

The Procurement Manager for Data Centre Construction is responsible for planning, sourcing, negotiating, and managing procurement activities for all construction-related materials, equipment, and services required to build and expand data centers. This role ensures timely delivery of mission-critical components such as electrical distribution equipment, mechanical systems, structural materials, modular systems, and construction services. The ideal candidate brings strong procurement expertise in construction and proven experience supporting large-scale data center buildouts.

Key Responsibilities:

Construction Procurement & Sourcing:

• Manage procurement for all construction phases of data centers, including greenfield builds, retrofits, expansions, and fit-outs.
• Source and procure major construction equipment including switchgear, UPS, generators, chillers, cooling systems, CRAHs/CRACs, PDUs, transformers, and prefabricated modules.
• Oversee procurement of structural and architectural materials (steel, concrete, enclosures, fire protection systems, etc.).
• Execute end-to-end RFI/RFQ/RFP processes, ensuring competitive bids and best-value outcomes.
• Coordinate closely with construction, engineering, commissioning, and project management teams.

Vendor & Contractor Management:

• Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, OEMs, and specialty suppliers.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, delivery terms, warranties, and service agreements.
• Evaluate supplier performance and ensure adherence to SLAs, safety standards, and project specifications.
• Manage vendor prequalification and onboarding for construction and critical facility partners.

Project Execution & Supply Chain Coordination:

• Create procurement schedules aligned with construction project timelines and critical path activities.
• Anticipate and mitigate risks related to long lead items (LLIs) such as switchgear, generators, HVAC systems, and electrical gear.
• Track shipments, manage logistics, and resolve delays or disruptions.
• Support project commissioning by ensuring materials and equipment arrive ahead of testing and turnover phases.

Financial & Compliance Oversight:

• Manage capital budgets for construction procurement, including forecasting, cost tracking, and reporting.
• Optimize cost savings while maintaining quality and compliance with technical standards.
• Maintain accurate purchase orders, contracts, change orders, and documentation for audits.
• Ensure adherence to building codes, data centre standards (TIA-942, Uptime Institute), and internal governance policies.

Qualifications Required:

• Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
• 10 + years of procurement experience with at least 4 years in Data Centre construction procurement.
• Experience supporting data centre, critical infrastructure, industrial, or large commercial construction projects.
• Strong understanding of construction documents, drawings, specifications, and bill of materials.
• Experience sourcing long lead electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and vendor management skills.
• Proficiency with procurement/ERP tools (SAP, Oracle, Procore, Coupa, or similar).
