This role is ideal for a backend engineering expert with deep experience in database, Java technologies and a strong track record of building and supporting data-intensive applications. You will play a critical role in designing scalable, high-performance solutions within our Global Store Reference System (GSRS), leveraging a modern tech stack including PostgreSQL, Java, Spring Boot, Python, ElasticSearch, ReactJS in an Azure cloud environment.This is a strategic opportunity to influence architecture, optimize data workflows, drive operational excellence in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and the chance to mentor top engineering talent. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, high-performance backend systems using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture
- Architect and optimize PostgreSQL and other data stores for reliability and speed, enabling high-volume data processing
- Ensure performance, security, and scalability of production services and data pipelines
- Provide hands-on support for mission-critical, time-sensitive environments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and with Product, Operations to deliver solutions aligned with business objectives
- Champion best practices in code quality, performance tuning, and maintainability
- Apply deep understanding of complex business logic to enhance system capabilities and data workflows
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across development, deployment, and monitoring processes
Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a focus on backend and data systems
- Advanced proficiency in DB models, data flows, Java, Python, for data processing and application development
- Demonstrated expertise in PostgreSQL, including query optimization, indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning
- Experience supporting mission-critical, time-sensitive production environments and client-facing data delivery
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and scalable system design
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and DevOps practices
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Proven ability to lead initiatives, mentor peers, and adapt to evolving technical landscapes
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of testing frameworks and best practices for unit and integration testing
- Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies
