Principal Software Engineer

Role & responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Execution

• Lead the design and architecture of complex, large-scale systems with an emphasis on scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Stay hands-on: write high-quality, production-grade code when needed, set coding standards, and lead by example.
• Conduct PR reviews, design discussions, and technical deep-dives to maintain engineering rigor.
• Drive adoption of best practices in coding, testing, CI/CD, and system operations.
• Ensure technical solutions align with both short-term delivery goals and long-term platform strategy.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

• Partner with Product Managers, Designers, and Business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Manage dependencies across multiple teams and align technical efforts with organizational priorities.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring clarity and alignment.

Mentorship & Team Development

• Serve as a technical mentor for senior engineers, fostering growth in system design and coding excellence.
• Encourage a culture of peer reviews, continuous learning, and innovation.
• Provide guidance on balancing trade-offs between technical debt, performance, and speed of delivery.

Preferred candidate profile

• 8+ years of software development experience, including 5+ years in a senior engineering leadership role.
• Proven experience designing and building high-performance, distributed systems.
• Strong hands-on coding skills in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, Go, Python, or similar).
• Expertise in system design, architecture, and API development.
• Strong experience with cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Solid track record of conducting PR reviews and design reviews at scale.
• Strong collaboration skills with experience working alongside Product and cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
