Principal Data Engineer

.We are seeking a highly experienced data engineering leader to drive the strategy and implementation of advanced data solutions. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and management of scalable data pipelines, warehouses, and lakes that power critical business decisions and analytics. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to transform large, complex datasets into actionable insights that improve operational efficiency and customer outcomes. This is a hands-on leadership position where you will mentor engineers, set technical standards, and guide the execution of the data roadmap. You will also play a key role in enabling AI and machine learning initiatives, ensuring data privacy and regulatory compliance in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Your contributions will directly impact the company’s ability to deliver innovative, data-driven solutions.
Accountabilities
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines, warehouses, and lakes to handle large volumes of data from multiple sources.
- Oversee the deployment of advanced analytics models, including predictive modeling and machine learning, to support strategic business decisions.
- Collaborate with IT, business, and vendor teams to translate data insights into actionable strategies, improving operational efficiency and customer experience.
- Manage and mentor a team of data engineers, architects, and analysts, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and accountability.
- Ensure data solutions comply with security and privacy standards, including HIPAA and other relevant regulations.
- Optimize data platform performance, identifying and addressing bottlenecks, and implementing process improvements.
- Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and integrating them into the data architecture to enhance capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience leading engineering teams and 9+ years in building large-scale data systems.
- Strong experience with AWS cloud stack, big data platforms, and data processing frameworks.
- Expertise in data architecture, software design patterns, and best practices for scalable systems.
- Experience with data science platforms, machine learning infrastructure, or managing regulated data is preferred.
- Strong understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and predictive analytics.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into actionable technical roadmaps.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, startup or rapidly evolving environment.
- Knowledge of healthcare data standards and regulations such as HIPAA and FHIR is a plus.
