Principal Data Engineer (Associate Director)

As a Principal Data Engineer (Associate Director) at Fidelity, you will be an integral part of the ISS Data Platform Team, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and architectures to support data ingestion, integration, and analytics. Your key responsibilities will include: - Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and architectures using cloud-based data platform capabilities such as Snowflake and Databricks. - Taking ownership of technical delivery and leading a team of senior and junior developers, providing mentorship and guidance. - Collaborating with enterprise architects, business analysts, and stakeholders to understand data requirements, validate designs, and communicate progress. - Driving technical innovation within the department to increase code reusability, code quality, and developer productivity. - Bringing the latest data engineering practices and techniques to challenge the status quo. In terms of essential skills and experience, you should have: Core Technical Skills: - Expertise in leveraging cloud-based data platform capabilities such as Snowflake and Databricks. - Advanced expertise with AWS ecosystem and experience in using core AWS data services like Lambda, EMR, MSK, Glue, and S3. - Experience designing event-based or streaming data architectures using Kafka. - Advanced expertise in Python and SQL, with enterprise experience of Python. - Expertise in designing, building, and using CI/CD pipelines with test automation. - Experience in data security, performance optimization, and implementing CDC ingestion. - Familiarity with both RDBMS and NoSQL offerings, as well as orchestration tools like Airflow and Control-M. Bonus Technical Skills: - Strong experience in containerization and deploying applications to Kubernetes. - Experience in API development using Python-based frameworks like FastAPI. Key Soft Skills: - Strong problem-solving skills and leadership experience in technical decision-making. - Effective communication skills for strategic communication and stakeholder engagement. - Experience in project management and overseeing project lifecycles.
