Principal Application Engineer - Energy Vertical Lead

As a globally recognized industry leader in the Energy vertical, you will utilize your advanced engineering knowledge to support Ansys verticalization strategy with the Energy Center of Excellence (COE). Collaborating in a dynamic and cross-functional environment with multi-disciplinary teams, you will leverage your leadership skills to drive business impact. You will advise the Ansys commercial and product management teams on how best to grow the business by using conceptual thinking and a deep understanding of overall market needs. Your role will involve driving Ansys Go-to-Market verticalization strategy in collaboration with the Industry CTO, Global Technical Account Management (TAM), Marketing, and Sales Operations Leads. - Drive Ansys Go-to-Market verticalization strategy in collaboration with the Industry CTO, Global TAM, Marketing, and Sales Operations Leads - Establish a trusted advisor role to the COE; understand industry trends, product development needs, and design workflows - Build a network of Subject Matter Experts globally to drive content collation and mapping of Ansys capabilities to industry initiatives - Work with product development teams to define the Ansys product roadmap, prioritize feature enhancements, and recommend new solution focus areas - Drive market adoption of vertical application focus areas by creating and promoting sales enablement and technical content - Lead knowledge sharing and mentoring programs within Ansys - Demonstrate leadership in Ansys initiatives to innovate offerings and solutions - Support the Ansys Field and Digital Marketing team through developing promotional materials and supporting events Minimum Education/Certification Requirements And Experience: - Required education: BS or MS or PhD in Mechanical/Chemical/Aerospace/Electrical Engineering or related field - Required minimum years of professional experience: BS+12, MS+10, or PhD+7 - Demonstrated use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA, PLM software packages - Subject matter expert in relevant disciplines within Ansys business - Understanding of engineering practices, product development, and building solutions using simulation technology - Strong leadership, mentoring, problem-solving, and communication skills - Ability to organize and manage complex projects and work in a Matrix Organization - Excellent negotiation skills and ability to facilitate discussions among diverse stakeholders - Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time Preferred Qualifications And Skills: - Preferred education and experience: BS+16, MS+14, or PhD+11 - 6 years of experience in application engineering, customer support, or consulting services roles - Ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C-level executives - Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time At Ansys, the culture is grounded in core values of adaptability, courage, generosity, and authenticity.
