Principal AI Engineer

As a Principal AI Engineer specializing in AI Document Intelligence & Automation, your role involves leading the technical roadmap for Cync's AI Document Intelligence platform. You will be responsible for driving execution across multiple engineering teams focusing on LOS AI ingestion, Servicing workflow automation, Vision AI, Integrations, and Cloud Infra. Your main tasks will include architecting modular, scalable pipelines for various document types such as financial statements, tax returns, rent rolls, leases, appraisals, construction docs, borrowing base collateral files, and KYC/identity docs for deposits. You will also need to build guardrails to ensure accuracy, traceability, compliance, and explainability. Additionally, you will convert one-off extraction workflows into a configurable platform by working on Document Layout, Sub-section segmentation, Contextual parsing, table and image data conversion, natural language-based field extraction, and retrieval pipelines. Ensuring interoperability across Origination, Servicing, and Core banking systems will be crucial. Establishing high-velocity engineering processes, scaling engineering headcount, implementing modern observability, testing automation, and performance engineering, as well as driving cost-efficient cloud scaling and AI model operations are key responsibilities. Furthermore, you will collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Sales/Pre-Sales, Compliance/Risk to turn customer workflows into intelligent automation, support enterprise deployments, and meet banking regulatory expectations. Your qualifications should include 10+ years of engineering experience with 3+ years of team leadership, expertise in building and scaling AI/ML or data platforms, workflow automation, enterprise SaaS, and secure production environments. Deep familiarity with LLMs, Vision Models, strong architectural ability, and experience integrating with financial systems are required. You should have a proven track record of turning unstructured data into reliable structured outputs and thriving in a fast-paced, innovative engineering culture.
