About the role
Name of the position: powertrain Testing Engineer
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Powertrain Testing Engineer to support the development, validation, and optimization of powertrain systems, including internal combustion engines, hybrid powertrains, and electric drivetrains. The engineer will be responsible for conducting lab and vehicle-level tests, analyzing performance data, and ensuring systems meet regulatory and performance standards.
Roles and Responsibities:
Plan, prepare, and execute test procedures for powertrain systems (engine, transmission, e-motor, inverter, battery, gearbox, etc.).
Operate test benches, chassis dynos, and vehicle testing instruments to validate performance, emissions, NVH, durability, and thermal behavior.
Conduct data acquisition, signal calibration, and test instrumentation (e.g., thermocouples, pressure sensors, CAN bus logging).
Analyze test results using tools like MATLAB, INCA, ETAS, or AVL Concerto, and prepare technical reports.
Collaborate with design, calibration, simulation, and software teams to provide test insights and feedback for system improvements.
Ensure compliance with relevant emission, efficiency, and safety standards (BS6, Euro 6, AIS-156, ISO 26262, etc.).
Perform root cause analysis of test failures and assist in countermeasure development.
Maintain lab equipment and test rigs, and follow test lab safety and operational protocols.
Sub-system level bench level testing and report generation
System level/Vehicle level testing, Analysis, and report generation
Functional Competencies:
Knowledge of powertrain systems (ICE, hybrid, electric)
Hands-on experience with dynamometers, test rigs, and instrumentation
Familiarity with CAN tools (CANalyzer, CANoe, INCA)
Proficiency in data analysis (MATLAB, Excel, Python optional)
Understanding of vehicle electronics, BMS, inverters, motors, and transmissions
Knowledge of regulatory standards (emissions, performance, durability)
Familiarity with emissions testing and regulatory standards (e.g., EPA, CARB, Euro standards).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
