Portfolio Manager for Emerging Markets

Key Responsibilities

1. Portfolio Strategy & Planning

• Develop and manage the product portfolio strategy for emerging markets.
  
• Identify new product opportunities based on market research, competitor analysis, and regulatory landscapes.
  
• Evaluate business cases, feasibility studies, and profitability of potential products.
  
• Align portfolio pipeline with company goals and market needs.
  

2. Market & Competitor Analysis

• Conduct deep market assessments for key emerging markets.
  
• Monitor trends, pricing dynamics, therapeutic area growth, and competitor portfolios.
  
• Identify gaps and recommend expansion or optimization strategies.
  

3. Product Lifecycle Management

• Oversee the lifecycle of all products from development to launch and post-launch performance.
  
• Coordinate with regulatory, R&D, supply chain, quality, marketing, and finance teams for smooth execution.
  
• Manage product discontinuation, market updates, and strategic SKU rationalization.
  

4. Cross-functional Coordination

• Collaborate with Business Development, Regulatory Affairs, R&D, and Manufacturing to ensure portfolio readiness.
  
• Provide inputs for demand forecasting, capacity planning, and supply planning for emerging market products.
  
• Manage timelines for product development, submissions, and launches.
  

5. Financial & Commercial Assessment

• Analyse P&Ls, pricing structures, cost models, and margin expectations.
  
• Support tender opportunities, government programs, and strategic partnerships.
  
• Track portfolio performance and prepare MIS reports for leadership.
  

6. Product Launch Support

• Work closely with marketing and commercial teams to prepare launch strategies.
  
• Provide product intelligence, competitive benchmarking, and market insights.
  
• Monitor post-launch performance and recommend actions for growth.
  

Qualifications & Skills

Education

• Bachelors/Masters degree in

  Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or Business Management

  .

Experience

• 8–20 years

  of experience in pharma portfolio management, strategy, product management, or business development.
• Experience handling

  Emerging Markets

  (LATAM, Africa, CIS, APAC, Middle East) is strongly preferred.

Technical & Functional Skills

• Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory pathways, market dynamics, and product development.
  
• Expertise in forecasting, pricing, project management, and competitive intelligence.
  
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis tools.
  

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management abilities.
  
• Strong analytical mindset and decision-making skills.
  
• Ability to manage multiple markets and projects simultaneously.
