A PLC & SCADA Engineer is responsible for designing, programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. The role involves automation system development, integrating control systems, and ensuring seamless industrial operations. Key Responsibilities: 1. PLC Programming & Configuration Develop, test, and implement PLC programs for automation systems. Configure and troubleshoot PLC hardware and software (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, etc.). Optimize PLC logic for improved system efficiency and performance . Modify and update existing PLC programs as per process changes. 2. SCADA System Development & Integration Design and configure SCADA systems for industrial automation. Develop HMI (Human-Machine Interface) screens for operator control and monitoring. Integrate SCADA with PLCs, sensors, and databases for real-time data acquisition. Ensure proper alarm management and reporting in SCADA systems. 3. Troubleshooting & Maintenance Diagnose and resolve PLC/SCADA-related faults and malfunctions . Perform preventive maintenance and ensure system reliability. Provide technical support for automation-related issues. Work with electrical and mechanical teams to resolve equipment failures. 4. Industrial Automation & Process Control Develop and implement automation strategies to improve efficiency. Work with process engineers to optimize control logic for better output. Ensure proper communication between field devices, PLCs, and SCADA . Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) . 5. Documentation & Compliance Prepare detailed technical documentation (PLC logic, SCADA configuration, wiring diagrams). Ensure compliance with industry standards (IEC, ISA, etc.) and safety regulations. Maintain records of program changes, backups, and configurations . Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for automation systems. 6. Project Management & Collaboration Work with project teams, clients, and vendors for automation projects. Participate in system design, commissioning, and validation activities. Coordinate with IT teams for SCADA networking and cybersecurity . Provide training to operators and maintenance personnel on PLC/SCADA systems. Technical Skills: Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Mitsubishi, etc.) . Expertise in SCADA/HMI development (Wonderware, WinCC, Ignition, GE iFIX, etc.) . Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, OPC, etc.) . Familiarity with VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) control and integration . Understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical control systems . Hands-on experience with DCS (Distributed Control Systems) and IIoT solutions is a plus. Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills . Ability to work independently and in a team environment . Good communication and documentation skills . Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple projects . . Certifications (Preferred but Not Mandatory): Siemens PLC Certification Rockwell Automation Certification SCADA System Certification Industrial Safety & Control System Training Work Environment & Conditions: Office-based work with frequent visits to manufacturing plants/sites . May require travel for installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting. Availability for on-call support for critical automation systems.
