Job Description – Plant Head

Location: Wada, Maharashtra

Department: Plant Operations

Reporting To: Director – Operations

Industry: OSD Formulation (Domestic + Semi-Regulated; Moving Towards Regulated Markets)

1. Job Purpose

To provide strategic and operational leadership to the OSD formulation plant at Wada, ensuring smooth manufacturing operations, compliance, team leadership, and successful execution of upcoming plant expansion and future regulatory readiness initiatives.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Plant Operations Management

Lead end-to-end functioning of Production, QA, QC, and Engineering & Maintenance.

Ensure uninterrupted manufacturing with focus on quality, productivity, and cost optimization.

Review daily performance and drive continuous improvement across functions.

B. Regulatory & Compliance

Ensure compliance with cGMP, Schedule M, and applicable national/semi-regulated norms.

Build and strengthen systems to prepare the facility for future USFDA/MHRA/EU readiness.

Lead internal audits, gap assessments, and drive closure of CAPA.

Strengthen quality culture and SOP adherence across departments.

C. People & Leadership

Lead, mentor, and manage a workforce of 700+ employees across the plant.

Drive performance, discipline, skill development, and cross-functional collaboration.

Build a strong leadership pipeline and enhance team capabilities.

D. Plant Expansion & Projects

Lead brownfield/greenfield plant expansion projects in line with growth plans.

Oversee installation, qualification, and validation of new equipment & utilities.

Ensure timely execution of all project deliverables along with engineering/corporate teams.

E. Safety, Quality & Compliance

Ensure adherence to EHS norms and promote a zero-incident work environment.

Oversee deviation management, CAPA, change control, and compliance improvements.

Strengthen systems to make the plant audit-ready at all times.

F. Cost & Productivity Management

Drive operational excellence, efficiency improvement, and cost-optimization initiatives.

Monitor OEE, wastage levels, and resource utilization.

3. Required Qualifications & Experience

B.Pharm / M.Pharm mandatory.

25+ years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Minimum 5 years as Plant Head or senior operations leader reporting to Director/Leadership.

Must come from regulated-market plants (USFDA, EU, MHRA exposure is essential).

Strong experience in managing large plants (700+ workforce).

Prior experience in plant expansion (brownfield or greenfield) is preferred.

4. Key Competencies

Strong leadership and people-management skills.

Deep understanding of OSD manufacturing and Quality Systems.

Experience in regulatory audit handling and enhancing compliance culture.

Decision-making ability and operational problem-solving skills.

Capability to lead multiple functions and drive high performance.

5. Compensation & Benefits

Up to ₹35 LPA (Max CTC) based on experience and suitability.

Fully Furnished Flat for Family Relocation provided by the company.
