Role & responsibilities

Placement Head will be responsible for leading and managing the university's career services department, overseeing and enhancing the placement process for students, and fostering strong relationships with employers and industry partners. This role is pivotal in connecting students with employment opportunities and supporting their career development. Driving placement numbers for students will be the key responsibility for the role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive placement strategy in alignment with the university's academic programs and the evolving job market.
• Student Engagement: Provide career counseling, coaching, and guidance to students to help them define their career goals, prepare for interviews, and build job-seeking skills.
• Employer Relations: Establish and maintain partnerships with a diverse network of employers, companies, and organizations to facilitate job placements and internships for students.
• Job Matching: Facilitate the matching of students with suitable job opportunities and internships, based on their skills, qualifications, and career aspirations.
• Internship Programs: Collaborate with academic departments to develop internship programs that offer students practical experience and exposure to real-world job environments.
• Data Analysis: Analyze and interpret labor market trends, job placement statistics, and alumni career outcomes to inform decision-making and improve placement rates.
• Resume Workshops: Organize workshops and events to assist students in creating effective resumes, cover letters, and portfolios.
• Job Fairs and Recruitment Events: Plan and execute job fairs, career expos, and on-campus recruitment events, bringing together students and potential employers.
• Career Workshops: Organize workshops, seminars, and webinars on career development topics such as networking, interview skills, and professional etiquette.
• Alumni Engagement: Engage university alumni to support current students in their job search and career development.
• Student Tracking: Maintain accurate records of student career paths and placements, tracking their progress and successes.
• Compliance: Ensure all placement activities adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and university policies.
• Budget Management: Manage the budget for the career services department, allocating resources effectively to achieve placement goals.
• Reporting: Prepare regular reports and presentations for university leadership on placement outcomes and departmental performance.

Preferred candidate profile

• Master's Degree in a related field, such as career counselling, human resources, or higher education administration.
• Proven track record of achievements in the placement sector.
• Proven experience in career counselling, job placement, or related fields, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of industry trends and labor market dynamics.
• Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
• Familiarity with career development software and job search platforms.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and employers.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in career services.
