Piping Designer

Role Description

SMPS is looking for a Piping Draughtsman / CAD Designer who is proficient in AutoCAD Plant 3D to join our design team. This is a hands-on role where you will work on industrial plant projects — preparing 3D models, GA drawings, isometrics, and material take-off (MTO) — in coordination with our engineering teams

Key Responsibilities/duties

❑ Create 3D piping models using AutoCAD Plant 3D.

❑ Prepare Piping GA Drawings for process areas, equipment zones, racks, and pipe supports.

❑ Generate isometric drawings from 3D models, complete with dimensions, elevations, and annotations. ❑ Develop MTO / BOM from the plant model.

❑ Interpret P&IDs to generate routing and line-classbased piping routes.

❑ Insert and configure piping components: valves, flanges, fittings, supports, etc., as per specs.

❑ Conduct clash checks within Plant 3D and coordinate with other disciplines (structural, civil, electrical).

❑ Revise drawings based on markups, redlines, or site input.

❑ Ensure all drawings adhere to SMPS drawing standards, layering, naming conventions.

❑ Maintain drawing documentation and version control

Qualifications & Skills

❑ Diploma / ITI (Mechanical Drafting / Mechanical Engineering) or relevant

❑ 3 to 6 years of experience in piping design / drafting in an industrial consultancy.

AutoCAD Plant 3D

❑ Understanding of piping components, line lists, and P&IDs.

❑ Familiarity with industry piping standards, e.g., ASME B31.3 (or equivalent).

❑ Good precision, attention to detail, and quality checking mindset.

❑ Good communication skills to coordinate with engineers.
