Pipe Stress Engineer

As a Stress Engineer, your role involves identifying different stress packages by reviewing P&IDs and Line Designation tables. You will be responsible for performing piping flexibility analysis for critical piping systems during both the preliminary and detailed design phases of the project. This includes analyzing sustained, thermal, and multiple operating cases, as well as occasional cases like winds, seismic events, relief scenarios, and hammer effects. Your key responsibilities will include: - Conducting pipe stress analysis for various equipment such as steam turbines, compressors, centrifugal pumps, tanks, exchangers, heaters, and columns. - Providing pipe loading information to the Civil/Structure team. - Resolving high pipe loads on equipment nozzles and addressing high secondary stresses in piping. - Selecting appropriate spring hangers, snubbers, and struts for pipe supports. - Locating and identifying pipe supports on isometrics, specifying the type of supports required. - Evaluating local stresses according to code using methods such as WRC107/297 or FEA. - Reviewing and approving piping isometrics with consideration for flexibility and support requirements. - Compiling comprehensive documentation of stress analysis and support design. - Participating in the review and verification of designs, drawings, and data provided by suppliers. - Understanding the interactions and dependencies of other disciplines involved in the project. - Providing technical guidance and delegating tasks to engineers, designers, and drafters involved in specific assignments. Qualifications required for this role may include: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. - Proficiency in stress analysis software and tools. - Familiarity with industry codes and standards related to piping design and stress analysis. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
