Job Description

providing patient care under physician supervision, which includes taking medical histories, performing exams, diagnosing illnesses, and creating treatment plans

Patient assessment:
Conduct patient interviews, take medical histories, and perform physical examinations to assess their health status.
Diagnosis:
Analyze symptoms and test results to diagnose illnesses and injuries.
Treatment planning:
Develop and manage treatment plans, which may include prescribing medications, recommending therapies, and suggesting lifestyle changes.
Procedures:
Perform medical procedures, such as stitching wounds, setting fractures, and administering immunizations.
Surgical assistance:
Assist surgeons during operations and procedures.
Diagnostic management:
Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as X-rays and laboratory studies.
Record keeping:
Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, including charting progress and preparing case histories and discharge summaries.
Patient education:
Counsel patients and their families on preventative health, disease management, and emotional concerns.
Collaboration:
Work with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
