Job Description

Pharmacist / Senior Pharmacist

Key Responsibilities

  • Inter-professional Collaboration:

    Liaise effectively with

    doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals

    to ensure optimal and safe drug treatments.
  • Dispensary Operations:

    Actively participate in dispensary work, including performing

    clinical checks

    and ensuring the

    accuracy of prescriptions

    and dispensed medicines.
  • Compliance & Safety:

    Ensure all tasks and processes strictly comply with

    Medicines Ethics and Practice

    , local policies and procedures, risk management protocols, and health and safety guidelines.
  • Medication Dispensing & Supply:

    Accurately

    dispense and supply medicines

    to patients as per prescriptions.
  • Controlled Substances Management:

    Responsibly receive, store, and supply

    controlled drugs

    in strict accordance with hospital policy, maintaining meticulous records.
  • Inventory & Procurement:

  • Create

    purchase orders (P.O.)

    and prepare Goods Receipt Notes (

    GRNs

    ) for incoming stock.
  • Process

    purchase returns of expired medicines

    .
  • Conduct

    quarterly stocktaking

    to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Narcotics Handling:

    Handle

    narcotics

    with utmost care and maintain precise, compliant records.
  • Medicine Sourcing:

    Arrange for the procurement of non-available medicines from external chemists when necessary.
  • Financial Handling:

    Accurately hand over collected cash to the cashier.

Educational Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) degree from a recognized institution.
  • A valid Pharmacist registration/license from the relevant state pharmacy council.

Required Skills

  • Pharmaceutical Knowledge:

    Comprehensive understanding of pharmacology, drug interactions, dosages, and safe medication practices.
  • Attention to Detail:

    Meticulous accuracy in dispensing, record-keeping, and inventory management.
  • Compliance Orientation:

    Strong adherence to ethical guidelines, legal regulations, and internal policies.
  • Communication:

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Organizational Skills:

    Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain organized records.
  • Problem-Solving:

    Capability to address and resolve issues related to medication supply and patient queries.
