Job Description

As a petroleum geochemist at Chevron, your role will involve working with earth scientists and petroleum engineers to assess petroleum source rock presence, quality, and quantity. Your primary responsibility will be to evaluate source rock presence, quality, and quantity, as well as to characterize and predict hydrocarbon fluid phase and composition for exploration, appraisal, and development projects. This will involve executing established geochemistry data analysis and interpretation workflows, delivering geochemistry services to business units, interacting with analytical laboratories, compiling and integrating data, and presenting results for project reviews. You may also be involved in strategic research projects, technology development, and teaching courses on petroleum geochemistry. Travel to business units or third-party locations may be required to fulfill job responsibilities and technical work efficiently. The ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams under tight timelines and deliver creative solutions to multiple projects simultaneously is essential. - Masters or Ph.D. degree in Geochemistry or relevant Geology sub-disciplines with a focus on geochemistry - Strong background in Sedimentology and Organic Chemistry - Good understanding of petroleum source rock development in sedimentary basins - Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting industry standard geochemistry data related to source rock evaluation, gas data analysis, and oil geochemistry data - Capable of integrating geochemical data with other geological and engineering data for holistic petroleum source rock evaluation and hydrocarbon fluid property characterization and prediction - Demonstrated ability to learn fast, apply learnings effectively, collaborate in cross-functional teams, and deliver results under compressed timelines Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours for employees are aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week is Monday to Friday, with working hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm or 1:30 pm to 10:30 pm. Chevron participates in E-Verify in certain locations as required by law.,
