Here's a more detailed breakdown of PSO roles and responsibilities: Safeguarding Individuals and Properties: This is the core function of a PSO, encompassing risk assessment, implementing security measures, and responding to emergencies. Security Patrols and Monitoring: PSOs may be responsible for patrolling designated areas, monitoring security systems (CCTV, access control, etc.), and ensuring the safety of employees and visitors. Access Control and Visitor Management: PSOs may be tasked with verifying identification, controlling building access, and managing visitor logs. Emergency Response: PSOs are trained to respond promptly to alarms, disturbances, and other emergencies, ensuring the safety of those on the premises. Operating Security Equipment: PSOs may be responsible for operating various security equipment, including batons, OC spray, X-ray machines, and firearms (where required).
