YOUR TEAM As a Commis Chef, you’ll be working closely with a talented team of chefs, line cooks, and kitchen staff. From The Bombay Canteen to O Pedro and Veronica’s, every kitchen is full of passionate, driven professionals who care deeply about the food they create. You’ll be an integral part of the team, contributing to the smooth running of the kitchen and helping to deliver exceptional dishes day in and day out. Whether you’re assisting with prep or learning new techniques, you’ll be constantly evolving in your role. Who You Will Report To You’ll report directly to the Head Chef or Sous Chef, who will guide you through your daily tasks, provide mentorship, and help you refine your culinary skills. You’ll be learning from some of the best chefs in the industry, with opportunities to grow and develop within the company. YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR Food Preparation: Assist in preparing pastry doughs, batters, creams, and fillings to precise specifications. Pastry Plating & Presentation: Support in the creation and decoration of desserts, ensuring they are visually appealing and meet presentation standards. Kitchen Organization: Keep your workstation clean, organized, and stocked with necessary ingredients and tools. Consistency & Quality: Follow recipes and culinary instructions to consistently produce high-quality pastries and desserts. Learning & Development: Expand your pastry skills by learning new techniques, recipes, and methods. Team Collaboration: Provide support to senior chefs and fellow team members during high-demand periods. Sanitation: Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen to ensure food safety and a safe working environment. Recipe Kits & Prep: Help with preparing daily mise-en-place for the pastry section and assist in assembling recipe kits. Adaptability: Be flexible to support other departments when needed, especially during busy shifts. Skills SKILLS & EXPERIENCE To excel in this role, you’ll need: 1-4 years of experience in a kitchen, preferably with pastry experience. A high school diploma or formal culinary arts certification. Strong communication and organizational skills. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work collaboratively with the team. The ability to work effectively under pressure and in a dynamic kitchen environment. Basic pastry knowledge and skills, including working with dough, creams, and garnishing techniques.
