Location: Wada (Palghar) - Pick and Drop available from Mumbai Department: Packaging / Production Reports To: General Manager Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Packaging Engineer to join Chhedas. This role will focus on developing innovative packaging solutions, ensuring quality control and assurance, and optimizing packaging processes for our food and snack products. The Packaging Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality control, and logistics, to enhance packaging efficiency, safety, and compliance with industry regulations. Key Responsibilities: 1. New Packaging Development & Design - Design and develop innovative packaging solutions that protect and preserve products during transportation, storage, and handling. - Conduct feasibility studies to determine the suitability of packaging solutions for specific products. - Collaborate with R&D and procurement teams to select cost-effective and sustainable packaging materials. - Conduct testing for raw materials to ensure durability and compliance with industry standards. - Create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for packaging floor plans and processes. 2. Quality Control & Assurance - Ensure all packaging operations comply with the company’s quality standards, regulatory requirements, and food safety guidelines. - Perform regular checks on packaging materials, finished products, and labeling to ensure compliance with quality specifications. - Conduct in-process inspections to identify defects or potential quality issues. - Work closely with the Quality Control team to resolve non-conformance issues and implement corrective actions. 3. Packaging Operations Management - Oversee and supervise the entire packing process for food and snack products. - Monitor and control packaging lines to ensure smooth operation and efficiency. - Ensure adherence to production schedules, safety protocols, and quality standards. - Train and supervise the packaging team to maintain operational excellence. - Allocate tasks to packing staff, ensuring optimal staffing levels for smooth operations. 4. Process Improvement & Innovation - Identify areas for improvement in packaging processes to enhance productivity and reduce costs. - Implement process changes and technological advancements to optimize packaging operations. - Evaluate and recommend new packaging materials and machinery for continuous improvement. 5. Reporting & Documentation - Maintain accurate records of packaging activities, including production output, downtime, defects, and material usage. - Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports for management on packaging operations, including performance metrics and challenges. - Coordinate with production, warehouse, and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of packed products. - Ensure packaging machinery and equipment are in good working condition and report any maintenance needs. Key Qualifications & Skills: - Education: Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Food Technology, or a related field. - Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience in packaging engineering, preferably in the food/snack manufacturing industry. - Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of packaging materials, packaging machinery, and quality control processes. - Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of food safety regulations, packaging compliance, and industry best practices. - Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot packaging issues and implement innovative solutions. - Communication: Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to coordinate with multiple departments and train teams. - Software Proficiency: Familiarity with packaging design software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office tools.
