OT Staff Nurse

As a Surgical Scrub Nurse, your role involves ensuring that the circulating nurse has checked all the equipment needed during the procedure and that they are in good condition. You will also be responsible for preparing the instruments and equipment required for the operation. Your duties include preparing yourself using sterile techniques such as scrubbing, gowning, and gloving, as well as receiving sterile equipment via the circulating nurse using sterile techniques. Key Responsibilities: - Assist in gowning and gloving the surgeon and assistant surgeon upon entering the operation suite. - Assemble drapes starting with towels, towel clips, draw sheet, and lap sheet according to their use. - Assist the surgeon in aseptically draping the patient based on routine procedures. - Prepare sutures and needles as required for the procedure. - Maintain sterility throughout the surgical procedure. - Be aware of the patient's safety and adhere to policies regarding sponge/instruments count and surgical needles. - Arrange instruments on the mayo table and back table for easy access during the procedure. - Pass necessary instruments in a decisive and positive manner as needed during the procedure. - Watch the field/procedure closely and anticipate the surgeon's needs. - Keep instruments as clean as possible by wiping them with a moist sponge. - Notify the circulating nurse promptly if additional instruments are required. - Save and care for tissue specimens according to hospital policy. - Undertake counts of sponges and instruments with the circulatory nurse and co-relate with the pre-surgery count. - Assist the surgeon in suturing the surgical incision and applying dressing over the surgical site. - Clear away instruments and equipment post-procedure. Qualifications Required: - Proficiency in Hindi (Preferred). - Prior experience as a Surgical Scrub Nurse. - Knowledge and adherence to sterile techniques. - Excellent communication and teamwork skills. - Ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team. - Attention to detail and ability to maintain a sterile environment. Please note that this is a full-time position with a rotational shift schedule and the work location is in person.
