Operator

Role & responsibilities

• Operate pumps, motors, valves, and auxiliaries at pumping & boosting pumping stations.
• Carry out daily start-up, shutdown, and shift operations as per SOPs.
• Monitor and record operational parameters (discharge, suction pressure, voltage, current, flow rate, etc.).
• Ensure smooth running of pumps and report abnormalities to BPS Incharge.
• Assist during preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment.
• Regulate pumping hours and flow as per instructions from control room / BPS Incharge.
• Maintain daily logbooks, shift reports, and meter readings.
• Check oil level, lubrication, and general condition of pumps/motors.
• Follow safety procedures during pump operations.
• Support in handling emergency breakdowns and power failures.
• Cooperate with fitters, electricians, and chemists for smooth station operation.

Keep the pump house clean and ensure housekeeping standards.

Preferred candidate profile

• Operational Knowledge: Strong understanding of pump operation, suction & discharge systems.
• Observation Skills: Ability to detect abnormal sounds, vibrations, leaks, or performance deviations.
• Record Keeping: Competence in maintaining daily logbooks, checklists, and operational data.
• Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safe operation practices and use of PPEs.
• Basic Technical Skills: Familiar with routine checks of motors, valves, gauges, and pressure meters.
• Emergency Handling: Capable of responding quickly to power failures or equipment breakdowns.
• Teamwork: Works effectively with fitters, electricians, and chemists.
• Discipline & Reliability: Punctual and responsible in following shift schedules.
• Communication: Clear reporting of abnormalities and operational status to BPS Incharge.
• Adaptability: Flexible to work in shifts and support extended hours when required.
